Saturdox Screening Program

2009 -
DEPO, Istanbul

The SaturDox / Documentary Meetings that have been realized at Depo since January 2009 took place alongside the film screenings that took place on Saturdays every two weeks, with talks held by speakers invited according to the theme of the week. The 6-month programs that have included 12-13 films and talks in every instalment have been composed of contemporary documentaries from Turkey and outstanding examples from world documentary cinema.

The film and talks program of the SaturDox / Documentary Meetings is curated by Depo and the Documentarist team. Documentaries included in the screening program are selected from films shown within the scope of Documentarist – Istanbul Documentary Days and also films that are being screened for the first time for Istanbul audiences. Social, economic and political sensitivity, and also formal and aesthetic criteria are taken into account in the selection of films. The feature documentaries focus on a broad landscape including the Balkans, the Caucasus and the Middle East, which includes Turkey. Another function of Saturdox is to create a platform for documentaries that have restricted means for screening in Turkey to meet audiences throughout the entire year. The Saturdox selection, which is formed of films that attract the most interest at the Documentarist – Istanbul Documentary Days, includes films that reflect the agenda both in Turkey and the world.

The Saturdox / Documentary Meetings program was realized with the support of the Open Society Foundation.
