Justice Atlas’s Second Season
Adalet Atlası (Justice Atlas) is a podcast series that is focused on the current violations of rights, without limiting the understanding of justice to the law.
In the first season of the series, which had 15 episodes released in 2020-2021, we have discussed intersection points of justice and various areas of science, arts and culture; from music to forensic medicine, from artificial intelligence to cinema. In each episode, two or three guests from different disciplines were engaged in a conversation while responding to the questions moderated by Hazal Özvarış. Guests have answered a diverse range of questions such as, how we decide what is fair, how animals were put on trials in the Middle Ages, how favorite writers like Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar shape our understanding of justice with their writings, how economic inequalities are represented in video games and on many other topics.
In the new season of the series, themes about justice that were not talked about previously are discussed with new guests. In this season, which will also have 15 episodes, topics such as the moral development in childhood to how adults might ignore the autonomy of children, from disclosing state crimes to violations of property rights are touched upon. Actors read passages on the subjects for some of these episodes and invited experts looked at the present times together with the past and the future, and questioned what kind of justice we are transferring from today which is shaped by injustices to tomorrow.
Why podcast?
In today's world, where the pressure on the media and academia have increased and freedom of expression is limited in various ways, this project intends to reach those who would be interested in re-thinking about justice. Justice Atlas’s second season continues to aim both increasing accessibility and providing permanent source content through utilizing the medium of podcast.
How were the main lineup of the podcast and the contents of the episodes determined?
