Talking about Justice in present Turkey (Turkish)
In the last episode of the Justice Atlas podcast series, we question the meaning of speaking about justice in Turkey's current situation with our Advisory Board members Senem Aytaç, Ozan Erözden, Umut Tümay Arslan, Mehmet Fatih Uslu, Ceren Akçabay and Kasım Akbaş.
As a starting point, we take the decision of the 13th High Criminal Court of Istanbul on the Gezi Case on April 25, 2022. Based on the decision in which Osman Kavala was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment and Mücella Yapıcı, Çiğdem Mater, Hakan Altınay, Mine Özerden, Can Atalay, Tayfun Kahraman and Yiğit Ali Ekmekçi were sentenced to 18 years in prison, the law that was expected to be the executive of justice was not implemented by the members of the judiciary. We are talking about the possibilities of seeking justice in a period.
In the section, which considers the political will that instrumentalizes the law, as well as the rising acts of discrimination and violence in the society, it is discussed how to re-establish the sense of justice that makes living together possible.
